COAS hails Ordnance Corps role in war, peace

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Karachi on Thursday and attended the Colonel Commandant Ceremony at Ordnance Centre, Malir.

The COAS installed Major General Syed Shahab Shahid as Colonel Commandant of Ordnance Corps. He appreciated the Corps for its role in war and peace, especially during the war against terrorism. A large number of serving and retired officers and soldiers from Ordnance Corps attended the ceremony.

Gen Bajwa visited PAF Air War College Institute. Addressing the participants of 35th Air War Course, he appreciated thorough professionalism of PAF and its enviable achievements. He urged the officers to make consistent efforts to keep abreast with the modern developments and maintain cutting-edge advantage.

The COAS said that superiority in modern day battlefield can only be maintained if we remain alive to contemporary challenges and are prepared to tackle them in line with emerging modern concepts. He reiterated that we must remain vigilant to respond befittingly to any misadventure by the adversary.

General Nadeem Raza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, while on official visit to Oman called on leadership of Oman, including Sayyid Shihab Bin Tariq Bin Taimour Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, General Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Namani, Minister of the Royal Office, Vice Admiral Abdullah Bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff Sultan’s Armed Forces, Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsin Al Rahbi, Commander of Royal Navy of Oman and Air Vice Marshal Khamis Hammad Al Ghafri, Commander of Royal Air Force of Oman.

During the separately held meetings, both sides deliberated upon various areas of interest, bilateral cooperation, including security, counter-terrorism and prevailing regional environment, particularly with reference to Afghanistan. The dignitaries also dilated upon measures to enhance the level and scope of military engagements between both thes countries and reaffirmed resolve to continue to forge deeper strategic ties.
