COAS presides 251st Corps Commanders Conference at GHQ: ISPR

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the 251st Corps Commanders’ Conference which was held at GHQ.

On Wednesday, the situation regarding floods and ongoing relief efforts being made by Army Formations around the country were highlighted in the detailed briefing on the external and internal security situation given to the forum said an official statement from the military wing of the army.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to providing the greatest amount of support for the flood victims who are enduring such adversity and expressed solidarity with them.

COAS praised formations for assisting those who were suffering and reaching out to them.

The COAS commended Army Doctors and Paramedics for providing emergency medical assistance, particularly to children and women, and for taking steps to prevent the spread of disease in flood-affected areas.

COAS also appreciated Army Engineers and FWO for restoring emergency access to important roads and communication facilities.

In order to help the areas impacted by the floods resume normal life, COAS directed Formations to concentrate on relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

The forum conducted a thorough review of the security environment, paying particular attention to the situation at the borders, internal security, and other Army professional matters.

The forum decided that terrorism will not be allowed if it reappears. The COAS instructed formations to take all necessary precautions to take action against terrorists in collaboration with all LEAs.

COAS instructed all of the Formations to keep strict vigil to protect against any threat after expressing satisfaction with the operational preparedness of the Formations.
