Complaint filed against CJP Bandial in Supreme Judicial Council

A complaint has been made to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

Local attorney Raja Sibtain Khan lodged a complaint against the Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial with the Supreme Judicial Council.

It has been claimed that Chief Justice Bandial has been found guilty of misconduct in the complaint made by attorney Raja Sibtain Khan.

The Supreme Judicial Council has been asked in the lawsuit to swiftly fire the Chief Justice.

This accusation was made by a lawyer based on the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election delay case, in which it was claimed that the Supreme Court had drawn controversy because of the election on its own initiative. It is also frequently claimed that the Chief Justice had created a judicial clique.

The Chief Justice has been under criticism since the hearing of the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started in the apex court. A larger bench was formed but judges recused themselves from hearing the suo motu case.

The ruling coalition parties have also been demanding the resignation of the CJP Bandial. Earlier, the government’s demand of forming a full court bench on the case was rejected by the Chief Justice and a three member bench concluded the hearing on the implementation of court’s previous order to conduct Punjab elections on April 30.

The ECP had postponed the elections till October 8 due to security and other reasons but now the court has directed to hold elections in Punjab on May 14.
