In a shocking incident reported by NDTV, a couple from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, identified as Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi, sold their eight-month-old baby to buy the latest iPhone 14.
They intended to use the phone to film Instagram Reels during their trips across the state. Fortunately, the police rescued the infant from a person named Priyanka Ghosh, who had paid money for the baby and lived in the same district.
Both the baby’s mother and the woman who purchased the child have been taken into custody, while the father is currently evading the police.
Authorities revealed that the father also attempted to sell his seven-year-old daughter, but the plan did not succeed.
A neighbor disclosed that the couple sold their baby boy for INR 200,000 and used the money for a honeymoon trip to places like Digha Sea Beach, where they even bought a mobile phone.
