Court grants bail to Ahsan in Imran Khan Wazirabad firing case

Gujtranwala’s ATC court rejects bail plea of second accused

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted bail to Ahsan, an accused in the case of firing on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s container during the Azadi March at Wazirabad.

A special ATC court in Gujranwala heard the bail plea of Ahsan and Waqas. The judge earlier reserved the verdict on bail and later granted bail to the PML-N leader’s brother Ahsan while the bail application of another accused Waqas was rejected.

The court directed Ahsan to submit a bail bond of Rs500,000 and adjourned the proceedings.

On November 3 last year, Imran Khan was tried to be assassinated in Wazirabad during the PTI’s Long March. One person was killed and 13 others including the PTI chairman and other leaders were injured in the incident. The shooter was later caught near the container and confessed to firing at Imran Khan.
