Court orders fixing PM’s son plea for hearing on Sept 7

Suleman  Shehbaz, others ask court to review decision regarding seizure of bank accounts

Special Court Central-I on Saturday directed the registrar office to fix the petition of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shehbaz with the main petition for hearing on September 7 in the money laundering case.

Duty judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain took up the matter after PM’s son Suleman Shehbaz challenged the verdict of the court regarding seizing his bank accounts and properties for not appearing before the court despite repeated notices.

Suleman, who was declared an absconder for repeatedly defying the court orders and not turning up before it, was the petitioner among others in the money laundering case.

“The companies have their common accounts and Suleman Shehbaz has nothing to do with these accounts,” read the petition moved to the court.

The bank accounts of nine companies of the Sharif family were seized by the relevant authorities in compliance with the court orders. Madni Traders, Sharif Poultry, Chiniot Power, Crystal Electric and Sharif Feeds are among the nine companies the accounts of which were seized.

The petitioner asked the court to review its decision about seizing the bank accounts of the said companies, and stop the operation of the order in the case.

After hearing initial arguments, the judge ordered the registrar office to fix the case with the main case for hearing and adjourned it until September 7.
