Court reserves verdict on ECP Toshakhana petition till December 15

Islamabad Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict till December 15 on whether the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would hear a petition filed against former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference case.

ECP had filed a petition seeking criminal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference case.

In his arguments, the counsel for the ECP said that Imran Khan had said that the road was built with the money of Toshakhana. He maintained that if the Prime Minister would get any gift then it has to be deposited in the Toshakhana.

The ECP counsel said that in 2018 the law was to deposit 20 percent of the amount in the Toshakhana to obtain the gift. He said that the PTI government had increased the amount from 20 percent to 50 percent but Imran Khan failed to tell how much the watch was sold.

ECP’s lawyer further said that the case was not about the watch but it was about the assets submitted by Imran Khan. he said that Imran Khan and his wife had taken 58 gifts from Toshakhana including jewellery but did not reveal details.

After hearing the arguments of the ECP’s lawyer the court reserved the verdict on the petition against Imran Khan. The decision will be pronounced on December 15 at 2 pm.
