Court summons Imran on January 9 in Toshakhana case

Islamabad’s court has sent a notice to former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case summoning him to appear in person on January 9.

A criminal complaint filed in the light of the Toshakhana reference verdict has been declared maintainable against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal, announcing the reserved verdict has issued a notice to Imran Khan. The former prime minister has been summoned by the court to show up on January 9.

Earlier, ECP had found the PTI Chairman guilty of corrupt conduct and he was de-seated in the assembly in its ruling in the Toshakhana case.

Imran Khan will face criminal charges in the Toshakhana matter, according to ECP, which had sent the case to the sessions court.

Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had sent the Toshakhana reference to ECP for Imran Khan’s disqualification. The reference stated that Imran Khan did not reveal the specifics of gifts that he had taken from Toshakhana and the proceeds from their sale in his assets.

The reference had further stated that Imran Khan had not included the expensive presents he got from friendly nations in his yearly filings to the Election Commission for two years.
