Cristiano Ronaldo officially joins Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr

The Riyadh-based team, Al Nassr, has announced that football star Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the organization.

After giving an angry television interview in which he claimed to feel betrayed by the team and that he did not respect their Dutch boss Erik ten Hag, the Portuguese attacker left Manchester United last month.

Al Nassr on Saturday shared a photo of Ronaldo holding up the team’s jersey on social media, describing the agreement as “history in the making.”

“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves.”

Al Nassr did not provide any financial information, but it did state that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will join for a term through 2025. According to media estimates, Ronaldo’s contract with the team is worth more than 200 million euros ($214.5 million).

After a dazzling tenure at Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, where he won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League crowns, and three Club World Cups, Ronaldo will come to Saudi Arabia with a significant collection of club accolades.

The nine-time Saudi Pro Premier League champion Saudi Arabian team is counting on Ronaldo to assist them to capture a first-ever AFC Asian Champions League victory.
