CTD issues threat about Imran Khan’s assassination

Threat issued on June 18 directs concerned agencies to take measures

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) issued a threat regarding assassination of Imran Khan and has directed all the concerned agencies to take immediate measures to ensure security of the former prime minister.

According to a report in an Urdu daily newspaper, the KP CTD issued the warning on June 18 about the assassination of former prime minister Imran Khan. CTD had stated that assistance had been sought from an assassin in Afghanistan by terrorists planning to assassinate Imran Khan.

A senior police official of KP confirmed the existence of the threat alert to media.

Earlier, PTI leaders had raised the issue regarding threat to Khan’s life. In a social media message on Saturday, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan had said that some people had given the task of Imran Khan’s assassination to a terrorist. He said that a terrorist in Afghanistan, named “Cochi”, had been ordered to assassinate PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Another PTI worker had even claimed that the assassin had even acquired residence in Islamabad/Rawalpindi area.
