Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former secretary general Asad Umar appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT).
Both of them recorded their statements to the inquiry team.
An eight-member joint inquiry team headed by FIA Islamabad Zone Director Rana Jabbar is investigating the cypher case at the FIA headquarters. The team also includes officers of different wings of fia and grade 19 officers of three intelligence agencies.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrived at the FIA headquarters shortly before the scheduled time of 11 o’clock.

Talking to the media after appearing before the FIA, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he appeared before the Joint Investigation Team for about two and a half hours. He said that he had received notices earlier and had asked for a questionnaire, “I appeared before, answered the questions honestly, and gave my stand today.”
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that I have already said that the cypher was a reality and it is a reality, responsible people, who do not belong to my party, they said that this is a political drama.
He further said that the cipher was not of a minor nature, two meetings of national security were convened on its status and nature, one was held under the chairmanship of the former prime minister and the other the current prime minister.
Shah Mehmood said that the leadership of all political parties were called in the meeting of the National Security Committee, the then opposition had boycotted the meeting.
