Rana Sanaullah hints Governor Rule for six months after PML-N’s legal consultations

The deadline for Chief Minister Punjab’s Vote of Confidence at 4pm has passed and the assembly session could not start. Governor Punjab has expressed worries over the violation of the constitution.

The matter of Chief Minister Punjab’s vote of confidence has become more complicated as the opposition in the provincial assembly has been demanding that CM Chaudhry Pervez Elahi take a vote of confidence as was asked by the Governor Punjab Baleegh-ur-Rehman.

Security has been increased at Governor House Lahore.

On the other side, security forces have taken positions around the chief minister office Punjab and containers have reached outside 8-Club Road, CM Punjab Office, as the Speaker provincial assembly has refused to hold voting on a no-confidence motion ordered by the Governor.

PML-N leadership has completed its consultation with the legal team. It has been reported that upon non-compliance with the Governor’s advice for the vote of confidence he could ask the federal government for implementation of Governor Rule in the province.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has hinted towards Governor Rule in Punjab. He said that Governor Rule could be implemented for six months. He has said that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has lost the majority.

Rana Sanaullah said that Governor Punjab will issue a new notification at 4pm. He has said that if CM Punjab will not take the vote of confidence then Governor will issue a notification. He said that CM Punjab Pervez Elahi is not getting any relief from the court.

Khalil Tahir Sindhu, a member of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has said that according to the constitution Governor could de-notify the CM. he said that Governor can ask the CM for the vote of confidence and CM will have to show 186 members. He said that Speaker Punjab Assembly gave the ruling opposite to the constitution.

Speaker Punjab Assembly had given the ruling that because the assembly was already in session therefore a new session could not be called. He had rejected Governor Punjab’s advice for vote of confidence on the ground and the session was adjourned till December 23 (Friday).

On the other hand Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has already announced that he will dissolve Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies on December 23.

Federal government had said that if voting will not held by 4pm today, the current Chief Minister, an ally of ex-premier Imran Khan will no longer remain in office.
