Designer Maheen Khan returns her LSA trophy in support of abuse victim

Famous Pakistani fashion designer Maheen Khan has returned her Lux Style award to show support for domestic abuse victims.

Actor Feroz Khan, who is facing allegations of domestic abuse by ex-wife Alizey Sultan, won a trophy for best actor viewer’s choice.

His win caused outrage on social media and many called out organizers for supporting the accused abuser.

Maheen also via Instagram announced her disassociation from the event.

In a world where one in three women worldwide experience physical or sexual assault, where rape and domestic abuse remains unaddressed, it is imperative that those who have a voice must use it. Physical abuse against women and girls is a human rights violation. Today it is someone’s daughter, tomorrow it might be yours,” Maheen wrote.

She further added that she can no longer associate herself with an event that disregards the victims.

Maheen also disclosed that she will be giving back my Lux Style Awards in support of individuals who continue to experience violations of their fundamental human right to live in peace.

Earlier, Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy declared that she would be returning the Lux Lifetime Achievement Award she won back in 2012 in protest.
