Did not know of ‘written letter’ received by PM Khan: Sheikh Rasheed

Interior minister says he is with the premier regardless of him being in power

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Monday disclosed that he did not know of the “written letter” allegedly given to Prime Minister Imran Khan wherein the premier stated that he was threatened.

Addressing a presser, Rasheed reaffirmed support for PM Khan, adding that the premier would foil the opposition’s efforts to remove him from office. He said he had never seen any government complete its constitutional term but his belief changed following the monumental rally held by PTI yesterday.

He said the rally witnessed a massive turnout adding that the event marked the first time he led a rally since 1977.

Commenting on Jamiat Ulema Islami-Fazal’s rally, he said that the party did not have authorization to hold the event because their no-objection certificate (NOC) had expired. However, he added, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had acquired the required permission to hold their rally.

Turning to the matter of voting on the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, he said that voting would be conducted on Monday on April 4 if the motion was tabled today.
