Differences emerge within PDM ranks ahead of key meeting

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will hold a public gathering against “the government’s poor policies and inflation” at Faisalabad’s Dhobi Ghat on Saturday, October 16 for which the political parties in the alliance are making preparations.

PML-N, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadis Pakistan will lead the gathering. However, sharp differences have occurred between the participating parties before the event, with accusations being leveled at each other, which could have a negative impact on the success of the meeting. The public gathering will be addressed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Markzi Jamiat Ahle Hadis Pakistan’s Senator Sajid Mir and other political leaders. For the success of the meeting, arrangements are being made by the local leadership of the three political parties but with four days to go before the public gathering, differences have already emerged between the local leaders of the political parties, with them criticizing each other.

In this regard, Chaudhry Kashif Nawaz Randhawa, Nazim of Markzi Jamiat Ahle Hadis Pakistan and convener of the gathering has accused PML-N provincial president Rana Sanaullah of trying to thwart the PDM public gathering on the instructions of the intelligence agencies. A video of a meeting between Kashif Nawaz Randhawa and various political figures went viral in which PML-N ticket holder Israr Ahmed Munnay Khan and other political personalities are present. Randhawa alleges that Rana Sanaullah is conspiring to thwart the Dhobi Ghat public gathering at the behest of the intelligence agencies or PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif.

Similarly, the Central Jamiat Ahle Hadees Pakistan held a meeting at a local hotel on Monday in which Kashif Nawaz Randhawa sharply criticized Rana Sanaullah and leveled various allegations against him. It should be noted that in a few days, in connection with the preparations for the PDM public gathering, Rana Sanaullah and Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Senator Abdul Karim and others held a press conference. On this occasion, there was a bitter exchange between Rana Sanaullah and Chairman Central Ulema Council Pakistan Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi. Professor Sajid Mir Ameer of Central Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan contacted PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in London and apprised him of the situation.

According to sources, Rana Sanaullah was opposed by Zahid Mahmood Qasmi during the general elections. Sanaullah was criticized for attending election rallies of his rival, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket holder Dr Nisar Ahmed.
