Director Haseeb Hasan thanks Umera Ahmed after “Alif” wins award

Sajal Aly and Hamza Ali Abbasi starrer “Alif” just won the award for the best drama serial at this year’s Lux Style Awards. Adapted from Umera Ahmed’s novel of the same name, “Alif” was based on spiritualism and was a totally off-beat project, the kind of which are not at all in vogue these days. Still, the serial managed to bag an award for its strong story, made more attractive with wonderful direction on screen, employing the best of Pakistani actors such as Manzar Sehbai, Kubra Khan, Ahsan Khan, Saleem Mairaj and the two leading performers, Aly and Abbasi.

The story touching upon the idea of divine love was made more visually beautiful on television by being shot in the suburbs of Turkey, a country known for having produced famous Sufis.

After the serial procured an award, the director behind the project, Haseeb Hasan took to social media to thank Ahmed who was courageous enough to adapt the novel for the small screen. Expressing how grateful he is to Ahmed for penning amazing characters, the director said that “Alif” was not just a story but a project that brought about a major shift in the director’s perspective towards the world we live in.

Furthermore, he added that words and awards are never enough to appreciate Ahmed’s dedication towards her work.
