The documentary ‘The Accused: Damned or Devoted’ that focuses on Khadim Hussain, a former Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader has received an Emmy nomination for “Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.”
Mohammed Naqvi’s documentary is centered on his devotion to challenging authority, especially those who exploit religion to further their political objectives.
The nominated director has received the Television Academy Honor before and has been nominated for three Emmys.
The nomination for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards is a remarkable accolade, according to a statement, underscoring how important it is to provide thought-provoking programming that results in substantive change.
The film’s strong fusion of superior cinematography and timely social criticism is evidenced by its nomination in the “Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking” category.
Along with Naqvi, Syed Musharaf Shah, Mohsin Abbas, Madeeha Syed, Muhammad Sohail Rana, and Rabbia Arshad all contributed to the film’s production as co-producers, and associate producers.
The statement said, “This film stands as a tribute to the people who have shown faith in Naqvi, supporting and believing in his work, and to whom he is eternally grateful.”
