Donald Trump is back with a rerun announcement

Donald Trump, since the end of his term in 2018, has never been out of headlines. He, however, hit the headlines worldwide with his statement on Tuesday that he intends to run for president once more. He has come up with the announcement quicker than expected, as Donald Trump appears to be moving forward quickly. His outright views and straightforward statements should make him a formidable candidate for the Democrats, but it is believed that Republicans and Democrats both see him as an unusual candidate, and Democrats believe they will be at home to defeat him once more. Republicans are trying to guess Trump’s quicker move, and one does not need a degree in rocket science to know that Trump is trying to eliminate any potential Republican challengers. Right now, he faces challenges from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin, who have demonstrated their ability to prevail in tight states.

Americans should have welcomed the reelection bid of Trump for judges, taxes and deregulation, energy security, backing out of international conflicts and pro-American policies. But his stance on disputing the election results and instigating his followers to demonstrate in front of the Capitol on January 6 and vandalize them has made him a bad legacy. All his successes, which he bagged as the US president, were hindered by his personal defects, including selfishness, a lapse in self-control, bullying advisers, and his petty grudges. Prior to Covid, he planned to run for reelection. However, the fallout from his economic shutdown and his erratic behaviour during that crisis provided Joe Biden with the chance to run for office and advocate for normalcy.

Since it is American’s internal politics, and no other country has the right to influence the elections, as far as Pakistan is concerned, the victory of Trump is likely to make a difference for Islamabad. Pakistan, it seems, has lost a good book page in the US government. It’s time to wait and see.
