DSP, four police officers martyred in Lakki Marwat attack

At least four police officers, including DSP Iqbal Momand, were martyred in an early-morning terrorist attack on a police station in Lakki Marwat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The terrorists attacked the Saddar police station with strong, contemporary weapons at around one in the morning. The police responded with retaliatory fire since they were already on high alert, which allowed the terrorists to flee into the night.

At least five police officers were hurt during the shooting incident, including Chief Constable Farooq Shah and Constables Amanatullah, Azghar Ali, Gul Tiaz, and Arif.

A team headed by DSP Iqbal Momand immediately headed to the police station after learning about the incident. On the route, an IED detonated on the road close to Pirwala Mor, close to the DSP Momand’s APC vehicle.

The roadside bomb explosion claimed the lives of DSP Momand, Constable Waqar, Constable Ali Marjan, and Constable Karamatullah.

The injured policemen were brought to Lakki City Hospital for prompt medical attention. The martyrs’ funeral prayers were held in the morning.

The attack has been blamed on the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
