Dua Mangi case absconder arrested after shootout

Dua Mangi and Bisma abduction case wanted absconder Zohaib Qureshi was arrested in an injured condition, after a shootout with police in Kashmore-Kandhkot district on Tuesday.

“The accused has been involved in kidnapping for ransom and other crimes,” SSP Amjad Shaikh said while briefing the media after an alleged encounter with the absconder.

Shaikh said. “The police signalled a suspicious car to stop at Karampur road, but the accused opened fire at the police party. After an exchange of fire, Zohaib Qureshi, a most wanted accused, was arrested.”

“Six mobile phones and other things were recovered from the possession of the accused” claimed Shaikh. The SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot added that police had arrested Quraishi after he was injured while his accomplices managed to escape from the scene. He said that besides being involved in the abductions cases, he was also wanted in a number of other cases of heinous crimes in different parts of the province.

“The injured accused would be handed over to Karachi police after the treatment of his multiple bullet shots,” he added. The police officials submitted the report regarding the escape of Zohaib Qureshi and the measures taken to apprehend him during the proceeding.

The police had informed the court that his computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) was blocked and his name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL). Zohaib Qureshi had fled from City Court police custody on January 27. The court had issued non-bailable warrants for Zohaib Qureshi in high profile Dua Mangi and Bisma kidnapping cases.
