Early elections: Rasheed says advised PM to hold elections after Haj

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has said that he wanted ‘fair and transparent’ elections after Haj 2022 immediately, and that he had suggested to Prime Minister Imran Khan to put forth a good budget for the year 2022-23.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad today, the interior minister expressed his desire that the National Assembly members voted in support of the prime minister, that elections be held after Haj, and that Nala Lai be constructed.

He stated that the prime minister should put forth a good budget as the prices of oil and wheat across the world were high.

He added that the prime minister should hold elections immediately after Haj.

The interior minister underscored the fact that the prime minister would ‘play till the last ball’ and that he was behind the premier.

Rasheed reiterated what the premier had stated about international powers being behind the anti-government move, saying that they would fail.

He also stated that he was in the wait for the top court of the country to make a decision regarding the presidential reference on Article 63-A.

Rasheed further spoke about the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that it would be held on April 3.

The interior minister also appreciated the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s decision to support the government and expressed the hope that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement would make a similar decision.
