ECC approves drug price hikes by 20 per cent

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the increase in the price of medicines by 14 to 20 per cent.

According to Express News, a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in which several issues were discussed, including the Roosevelt Hotel, the purchase of wheat, and raising the prices of medicines.

The ECC has allowed a one-time increase in the prices of medicines by 14 to 20 percent.

In the same way, general medicines have been allowed to increase in price by seventy per cent of inflation, but the price cannot be increased by more than twenty per cent. The public is likely to react angrily to the price hike.
