ECC approves price hike of 20 medicines

Committee approves Rs76 billion collection with Rs1 surcharge per unit from major electricity consumers

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved to increase the price of 20 more medicines including paracetamol while 18 new medicines have also been approved to fix the maximum retail prices.

ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar approved fixing the price of paracetamol tablets 500mg at Rs2.67 and paracetamol extra tablet at Rs3.32 per 500mg.

The ECC deferred the electricity bills for September 2022 for commercial consumers in flood-affected areas until the next billing cycle and the ECC also approved the waiver of bills for two months of domestic consumers in flood-affected areas and also approved an additional grant of Rs10.34 billion.

Apart from this, it has been decided in the cabinet meeting to collect Rs76 billion from the major consumers of electricity for which a surcharge of One rupee per unit will be imposed on the major consumers of electricity which will also be applicable to the consumers of K-Electric.
