The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allotted election symbols to 23 political parties, giving the sword symbol to the PPP.
The PPP was allotted the sword symbol after 46 years.
A four-member commission headed by Member Nisar Durrani heard the petitions for allotment of election symbols of political parties.
The commission stayed the decision on the request of the IPP and the All Pakistan Muslim League, in this regard; the four-member committee said that the IPP asked for the shaheen symbol, which is with the All Pakistan Muslim League.

In addition, the ECP rejected the request of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and directed to provide relevant documents; the committee said that the registration of the party is still pending.
