ECP asks Imran, Asad and Fawad to appear on January 3

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court case till January 3 and directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry to appear before it on the next date of hearing.

A four-member bench headed by Sindh Member Nisar Durrani heard the contempt of commission case.

PTI leaders’ lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan has not yet been able to travel. He said that the medical certificate will be presented as there was no written decision on the election commission’s appeal in the Supreme Court.

Faisal Chaudhry said that it would be appropriate to allow the decision of the Supreme Court. He said that the Supreme Court had upheld the objections of ECP.

PTI leaders’ lawyer Anwar Mansoor said that it would be appropriate to run everyone’s case together. He said that the Lahore High Court has suspended the show cause of Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry.

PTI lawyer said that Fawad Chaudhry had a fever and flu and could not appear.

The PTI counsel said that all political parties and all individuals were bound to respect the institutions.

Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked if Imran Khan was ill but why did the rest of the people not appear. He said not to doubt them as they had no enmity with anyone. Member Punjab said that Asad Umar had apologized in court then why did he not come here, he should also come and said that they did not want to say this.

ECP directed Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry to appear before it at the next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case till January 3.
