The Egyptian government has imposed a ban on female students wearing the niqab in schools.

According to a directive issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Education for the new academic year starting on September 30, female students are required to adhere to the prescribed uniform, but wearing a headscarf (scarf) is optional.

According to foreign news agencies, under the new uniform regulations, female students who wish to cover their heads must use the approved color and design of the scarf, and parental consent and prior authorization will be required.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Education, the ban will apply to all public and private schools.

The Egyptian government’s decision has been met with strong criticism on social media, and it is being seen as interference in private matters, while some individuals have also supported this move.
