Ex-PTI member Justice Wajih says PM Khan got Rs5mn from ‘Jahangir Tareen group’ monthly for running Banigala

Former judge comes down hard on premier, says someone like him cannot claim to be honest

Former Supreme Court chief justice and ex-member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Justice (R) Wajihuddin Ahmed has alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan used to take roughly Rs5 million from Jahangir Tareen to take care of his household expenditure.

While speaking on a private TV channel, Justice (R) Wajihuddin stated that it was a wrong idea that PM Imran Khan was an honest person, adding that he (PM Khan) had not taken care of his household expenditure himself for years.

He stated that initially, the Jahangir Khan group used to give Rs3 million to the PTI chairman so that he could run his house. Justice (R) Wajihuddin added that this amount changed to Rs5 million a month, and would also include fuel payments.

He further said that it didn’t matter whether he had money in his wallet or not, there were people to provide him with finances, adding that the one who did not own the lace on his shoe could not call himself honest.

The anchor questioned the former judge if these finances were for the party, in response to which, he replied that this money was for taking care of the expenses of Banigala.

Former judge Justice (R) Wajihuddin parted ways with the PTI in 2016 after developing serious differences with the party chairman.

Following his resignation, he had stated to media that the party had reached a point where he was not concerned to be part of it, neither was there space for people like him.
