Fake officer arrested at National Assembly Secretariat over forged documents

Suspect posing as Grade 17 official detained by FIA after public complaints expose fraudulent use of executive privileges and fake signatures of the Speaker.

​The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a man for allegedly posing as a high-ranking official within the National Assembly Secretariat. The suspect, identified as Abdul Wajid, a resident of Ghotki, had successfully managed to impersonate a Grade 17 officer to secure fraudulent official privileges and security protocols.

​The security breach was uncovered following multiple complaints from the public and growing scrutiny across social media platforms, prompting the Speaker of the National Assembly to order an immediate inquiry. Acting on these directives, the Director General of the FIA executed the arrest at the Secretariat premises. Upon apprehension, authorities recovered a completely fabricated appointment letter from the suspect’s possession, which featured a forged signature of the Speaker.

​A spokesperson for the National Assembly clarified that the suspect has absolutely no institutional connection to the parliament, and a thorough review of official employment records confirmed that no record of his appointment exists. The spokesperson emphasised that fabricating state documents, misusing the identity of the legislative assembly, or forging the Speaker’s signature constitute severe criminal offences. The public has been strongly advised to remain vigilant against such fraudsters and to cross-verify any official documentation directly with the National Assembly Secretariat before compliance.
