One of the most popular novels of the 21st century, cherished by classics enthusiasts and pulp-fiction readers alike, ‘The Kite Runner’ authored by Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini is being adapted for theatre.
It will be featuring Pakistani-American actor Faran Tahir in a significant role, that of the child protagonist’s father. Tahir seems to be an apt choice for the robust character of Baba, the news regarding which was disclosed to Pakistani fans by his celebrity wife Zara Tareen who took to her Instagram to share the following statement:
“To say that I am proud of you is an understatement. I always wished I’d seen you on stage during your ‘Othello’ or ‘Richard III’ but my wish has come true even better than that. I get to see you on the most prestigious stage on earth, Broadway!!” was how her statement went, added at the end of which were hashtags of ‘The Kite Runner’ and ‘Broadway’.
Faran Tahir, who is known for having performed in important Hollywood films such as ‘Iron Man’, ‘Escape Plan’, ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Torn’ happens to be the son of the power couple of the Pakistani showbiz industry, Naeem Tahir and Yasmin Tahir. Despite having spent most of his life abroad, has featured in a few Pakistani project as well such as the socio-political serial ‘Samjhota Express’ which carried multiple other greats including Asma Abbas and Zeba Bakhtiyar.
