Fashion designer Khadija Shah’s condition worsens in jail

Fashion designer Khadija Shah’s condition has worsened during her time at Lahore Central Jail Kot Lakhpat, according to sources within the jail. Shah has been experiencing stomach pain for the past two days, and she is currently sharing a barrack with Yasmin Rashid.

Concerns have been raised regarding Shah’s well-being, as jail authorities have reportedly banned visits and prohibited food from being brought in from outside. These restrictions have raised questions about the conditions under which Shah is being held.

Khadija Shah was remanded in judicial custody for seven days following her arrest in connection with the Jinnah House attack case. The incident involved arson and vandalism at Jinnah House in Lahore. On May 24, Shah appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court, which ordered her detention for seven days to undergo an identification parade.

As part of the ongoing legal proceedings, the court has scheduled Khadija Shah’s next appearance for May 30, after the completion of the identification parade. The court granted her permission to meet her husband during the court session, although she appeared with her face covered.

During the court hearing, Judge Abhar Gul listened to the police’s request to detain Khadija Shah for the identification parade. The police explained that the investigating officer assigned to Shah’s case was occupied with another matter in the High Court.

Following the completion of the court appearance, the proceedings were adjourned, and both Khadija Shah and Huma Saeed were allowed to return. Huma Saeed’s involvement in the case has not been specified.

It is noteworthy that Khadija Shah comes from a prominent family background. She is the daughter of former finance minister Salman Shah and the granddaughter of former army chief General Asif Nawaz Janjua. The connection to influential figures has drawn attention to her case and the circumstances surrounding her arrest.

As Khadija Shah’s condition deteriorates and concerns over her treatment in jail persist, many are closely monitoring the situation to ensure her well-being and the fair progression of the legal proceedings.
