Writer and social activist Fatima Bhutto who tied the knot on Friday in a small ceremony with Graham Byra has unveiled that the reason for a simple wedding is the country’s economic condition.
Fatima Bhutto, the granddaughter of Pakistan People’s Party founder and former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, wrote on Twitter: “Yesterday I got married to Graham (Jibran) at our ancestral home (in Karachi) at 70 Clifton.”

She said that the ceremony was held in her grandfather’s library, which had pictures of his father and his siblings.

At the same time, she also declared, “There will be no other wedding ceremony” as she is not fond of lavish wedding ceremonies and especially at a time when many people are facing financial difficulties.

“I missed my beloved father immensely but he was with us. I felt him in my heart and everyone with us loves Papa very much. Remember us in your prayers and thank you for everyone’s good wishes,” She wrote.
On Friday, Fatima Bhutto’s younger brother and artist Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Jr. announced the marriage on Twitter and shared a picture of the new couple on Instagram.
According to reports, British businessman Graham Byra has converted to Islam and taken the name, Gibran. Gibran’s age is believed to be between 38 and 42 years old, and the Bhutto family has kept the rest of his information secret.
Politicians, writers, journalists, and common people congratulated Fatima Bhutto on Twitter and also offered a lot of prayers to the new pair.
