Fawad Chaudhary wants LHC to take action against Shehbaz for assuring Nawaz’s return

Information minister told media attorney general has been asked to urge LHC in the matter

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the attorney general of the country has been instructed to ask the Lahore High Court to question Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif about his fake undertaking that was the assurance of his brother’s return to the country.

While talking to media on Sunday in Karachi, Information Minister Chaudhry said that Lahore High Court should take action against Shehbaz Sharif because he was the one who provided the assurance that his brother, Nawaz Sharif, would surely return to the country, which had not happened even after two years.

Nawaz Sharif left the country back in 2019 when his seven-year sentence was suspended by the Islamabad High Court and he was granted permission to go abroad for his medical treatment.

According to the assurance letter by Shehbaz, Nawaz was supposed to be back in the country after four weeks or as his health permitted or his doctors advised.

Last week, there was a stir on social media, which was backed by some journalists that the PML-N leader was coming back but there was no confirmation from the party’s official sources.

Fawad said that LHC should have taken suo motu on this case and they should question Shehbaz Sharif about his assurance letter. And if the court would not take any action, then the government would have to become a party in this particular case, he added.

The information minister further said that the government had told the attorney general to take this case up. And also, to submit a request in the high court to either bring back Nawaz or take action against Shehbaz Sharif for providing a fake affidavit.
