Fawad Chaudhry to be presented in court at 3 pm

Former federal information minister Fawad Chaudhry will be taken before the court today (Monday) at 3 pm, a police official has informed the court.

The police were asked to bring him before an Islamabad court today after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader’s two-day physical remand expired.

The attorney for Fawad Chaudhry asked Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja to restart the case as soon as possible at the beginning of today’s session.

The judge then ordered the police to present the PTI leader at 11:30 am after conducting his medical test; however, they failed to do so on time but informed the court that he would appear by 3 pm.

Awan requested that the court give a time that was close to 12:30 when the session began following the break. A member of PTI’s legal team, Ali Bukhari, stated that even if the prosecution wants to present Fawad by 1:00 pm, they should let people know, but it should be at the right time.

Awan remarked, “Prosecution should be roused from its sleep because the prosecution has become a prisoner of conscience.”

The judge then said that the PTI attorneys would be made aware of Fawad’s arrival by the court personnel.

The PTI leader will be produced in court during court hours, as the DSP legally promised when he first showed up in court.

Judge Raja then instructed the DSP to notify him once when the PTI leader will be introduced.

The official informed the judge, “The photogrammetry test of the PTI leader has been undertaken and a medical exam needs to be done.”

The official responded when the judge pressed him further, “Fawad will be produced in court at 3:00 pm.”

Following the filing of a case against him at the Kohsar Police Station, Fawad was taken into custody from his Lahore apartment on Wednesday.

He is being held on sedition charges for allegedly openly “threatening” the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a media briefing.
