The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recovered more than 11,000 official documents from former US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

According to Reuters, 18 of the found records were labelled as top secret, 54 labelled as secret and 31 were labelled confidential.

The recovered documents included photographs along with 48 empty folders labelled as classified, unsealed court records have revealed.

One day after oral arguments of Trump’s attorneys and the Justice Department’s top two counter-intelligence prosecutors the unsealing orders by US District Judge Aileen Cannon have come. Cannon said that she would agree to unseal two records filed by the US Department of Justice.

Trump’s counsel and former US Attorney General William Barr have questioned the usefulness of such an appointment. In an interview, Barr had said that he saw no legitimate reason for Trump having documents if they were classified; adding that he was also skeptical of Trump’s claim that he had declassified everything.

More detail about 33 boxes and other items found that have been included in the records. It has also shown that the documents with classification markings were mixed with other items like books, magazines and newspaper clippings. Unspecified gifts and clothing items were also among the list of findings.

The other unsealed record was a three-page filing by the Justice Department about the status of its investigative team’s review of the seized documents.

The Justice Department has previously said in court filings it has evidence that classified documents were deliberately concealed from the FBI when it tried to retrieve them from Trump’s home in June.
