The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has once again frozen the accounts of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for non-payment of dues.
According to sources, PIA has dues of more than Rs2 billion based on taxes for several months, 53 accounts of PIA were frozen last year for non-payment of dues.
The accounts were restored after the PIA management assured them of early payment of dues. According to sources, Pakistan State Oil has refused to supply fuel to several flights of the national airline.
Due to difficulties in obtaining fuel, seven flights of PIA from Karachi to Karachi were canceled today, including PIA flight PK 370 from Karachi to Islamabad, FLIGHT PK 306 from Karachi to Lahore, flight PK 350 from Karachi to Peshawar.
PIA’s flight PK 310 from Karachi to Quetta, PIA flight PK 302 from Karachi to Bahawalpur, Lahore, flight from Karachi to Rahim Yar Khan were canceled.
Flight PK-309 from Islamabad to Karachi and flight PK-330 from Karachi to Multan were delayed, while flight PK-739 from Multan to Jeddah was also delayed.
Despite being contacted by the PIA spokesman, the position has not been informed yet.
Pia spokesman confirmed the closure of the accounts and said that contacts are going on with the FBR at the government level to restore the accounts.
