The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has left no stone unturned depicting its promising vision to improve efficiency and transparency in the tax collection system.

The revenue board has achieved another significant milestone by signing an agreement (MoU) for data sharing with the Board of Revenue and Estate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in FBR HQs on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, the two organisations have agreed to transfer specified digital data about land/property ownership and agricultural incomes, which will help them improve their tax collection activities in their respective domains.

The agreement was signed by the senior member, Board of Revenue and Estate, KP Zafar Shah and the member of IT department, FBR, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Tunio, in a ceremony at FBR. The ceremony was attended by member (FATE) FBR, chief (FATE)/director media FBR, chief IT (BDT) and other officers of the two organisations. The agreement also plans to develop integrated IT-based platforms through which future automated data exchange will be possible.

FBR has been consistently acquiring third-party data by linking its IT systems with different provincial departments and other organisations to broaden the tax database and improve transparency in the tax collection system. In this regard, several agreements have already been signed with provincial excise and taxation departments and development authorities.
