FESCO chief asks for seven days to resolve overbilling issue

FESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Bashir Ahmed has asked for a seven-day respite to cater to all important demands, including overbilling in electricity bills of industrialists, traders and Power Looms Association of the city while orders have been issued to remove some technical defects in electricity bills.

An important meeting of city traders, civil society members and Powerlooms Association was held at the FESCO headquarters. Anjuman Tajran City registered Faisalabad President Shahid Razzak Sikka, General Secretary Sheikh Muhammad Saeed, Supreme Anjuman Tajran City President Haji Aslam Bhalli, General Secretary Rana Ayub Aslam Munj, Council of Looms Owners Association Chairman Waheed Khaliq Ramey, Convenor Action Committee Victims FESCO Tahir Mehmood Khaliq, General Secretary Anjuman Tajran Allied Group Mian Tanveer Riaz, Mirza Ashraf Mughal, Mirza Mazhar Siddique Baig, Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed and others were present, FESCO officers also participated in the meeting.

Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmed listened to the various problems of all the people individually and issued orders to solve them on the spot. Addressing the special meeting, Bashir Ahmed said that according to the announcement of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the facility of fuel price adjustment was given to domestic consumers up to 200 units. Now on government orders, it has been increased to 300 units. For the convenience of customers, FESCO has changed the date of payment to 12th September. For online bills, customers can go to FESCO online bill or www.fesco.com.pk to extract and submit the amended bills; they do not need to visit FESCO offices. He clarified that some technical errors in electricity bills will be removed immediately. Customers should be sure that their bill will arrive within 30 days. If there is any complaint from the concerned SDO in this regard, immediate action will be taken against it.

In the meeting, President Anjuman Tajran City Registered Shahid Razak Sikka said that the consumers are very worried about the electricity bills. They are struggling to get their bills paid and correct, they are not happy. He said that a special desk should be established in the FESCO office to solve the problems of traders on which Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmad assured them that any business representative will go to FESCO headquarters or any sub-division office, and then his work will be solved on priority basis.

President Supreme Anjuman Tajran City Haji Mohammad Aslam Bhali informed Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmed about the heavy bills of various factories. On which he said that you should give your suggestions in this regard, which will be immediately sent to the Ministry of Energy, Water and Power, Islamabad.

In the meeting, Supreme Anjuman Tajran City General Secretary Rana Ayub Aslam Manj, Chairman Council of Looms Owners Association Waheed Khaliq Ramey also expressed his opinion and said that we are facing difficulties in the process of changing the transformer. For which FESCO SDOs do not respond positively, due to old transformers there is interruption in the transmission of electricity while due to this any major incident may occur. On this, Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmed issued immediate orders to install new transformers in Ghala Mandi, Ghulam Muhammadabad and other areas.

Convener Action Committee Victims FESCO Tahir Mehmood Khaliq told the details of over-billing in various subdivisions of FESCO, and said that domestic consumers have to pay bills for 37 to 39 days instead of 30 days. In spite of heavy taxes in electricity bills, unannounced load shedding and huge increase in tariff, consumers are very worried about over-billing by FESCO, majority of them are unable to pay the bills. Thousands of consumers have not been able to pay the bill for the last two months, while they have to visit the offices for several days to get the installments. On this, Chief Executive FESCO Engineer Bashir Ahmed said that consumers will be sure that they will not get a bill for more than 30 days. Immediate action will be taken against the SDO who does this.
