FIA apprehends child pornographer in Quetta

An accused involved in child pornography was apprehended by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Quetta.

According to a report in Quetta Voice, the culprit was identified as Javed Iqbal. The FIA raided the Faqeer Muhammad Road area in the city to nab the offender.

His cellphone was found to have obscene videos of children. He was also sharing these videos on WhatsApp, the report cited sources in FIA as saying.

A case has been registered against the culprit under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. The source further said that investigation on the matter was underway. Another child pornographer had earlier been convicted by a Quetta court.

This latest arrest comes at the back of recent successes of the FIA in September and October against rings and individuals involved in child pornography. On September 23, the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing arrested a young person from Peshawar on the charges of child pornography and criminal intimidation after receiving a complaint from its US counterpart, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), about the accused hacking the Snapchat account of a minor American girl and blackmailing her.

In the first week of October, the FIA arrested two people from Faisalabad in a child pornography case with help of a US organization specialising in preventing violent crimes against children. The information was relayed to Pakistan via Interpol.
