Khurram Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed and Tariq Wasi have been named in FIR

An FIR has been registered in connection with the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif in the federal capital Islamabad on the orders of the Supreme Court.

However, the Capital Police registered the FIR without his mother’s complaint. Three persons including Khurram Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed and Tariq Wasi have been named in the FIR.

Earlier the Supreme Court had ordered the Interior Secretary to register a case within 24 hours during the hearing of the suo-motu case regarding the murder of senior journalist and anchorperson Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

The chief justice had also termed the medical report of the deceased as unsatisfactory. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial had taken suo-motu notice of the case and a five-member bench of the apex court had issued notices to the interior secretary, information secretary, foreign secretary, DG FIA, DG IB and President PFUG.

After the order of the Supreme Court, Arshad Sharif’s mother said that her son was murdered and she will file an FIR. Hours after her statement the Islamabad Police registered an FIR without his mother’s complaint.

A case has been registered on the complaint of the government in Ramna police station of the federal capital Islamabad, in which three people have been named.

It may be recalled that on October 23 Kenyan police shot Arshad Sharif in the head for a mistaken identity error on the Nairobi Magadi Highway but the investigation of the murder case is going on, which the Kenyan police’s stance has been found to be contradictory.
