FM Qureshi presents South Punjab province amendment bill to NA Speaker

FM Qureshi calls on opposition to come and vote on bill as they had ‘gained votes on promise of creating province’

Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi has submitted a constitutional amendment bill to National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser for the formation of the South Punjab province.

According to media reports, the speaker had ordered to include the bill in the agenda of the house on Monday at the request of the foreign minister.

In his remarks, Qureshi said the establishment of South Punjab province was part of the election manifesto of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. He said he submitted the constitutional amendment bill to the speaker on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s orders. He said the government had fulfilled another promise that it made with the people of South Punjab.

After the furnishing of the bill, the FM spoke to the media and expressed gratitude to the party members who had worked hard to make this bill possible.

Qureshi called on all the opposition parties to come and vote for the bill as he said that they had gained votes on the issue of the South Punjab province.
