Former interior minister Rehman Malik passes away

Former interior minister and Pakistan People’s Party leader Rehman Malik passed away on Wednesday morning owing to COVID-19 complications.

The news was confirmed by the PPP leader’s spokesperson. Malik’s death comes a month after he was put on a ventilator after his health deteriorated during a COVID-19 infection.

The PPP leader had been infected in January and had been placed in an intensive care unit.

Malik’s spokesperson confirmed that his lungs had been impacted by the infection and he was suffering from breathing issues.

Condolences for the leader poured in from across the political board, with PPP and PML-N leaders expressing sympathy for his family and offering prayers for the departed politician.
