Gang of fake tea leaf makers busted in Lodhran

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has nabbed a gang of makers of fake tea leaves in Lodhran.

The body raided the counterfeit leaf manufacturing unit and seized 1800kg of mixed leaves, straw and colour. Equipment used to make the tea was also confiscated. An application has been filed in Sadar police station Lodhran against the forgers.

The gang was mixing tea leaves with straw and colour. The owners were operating without a food licence, supplying these leaves to shops in the local areas of Lodhran. Tea samples were sent to a laboratory for further testing.

On this occasion, Punjab Food Authority DG Shoaib Jadoon said that the practice of counterfeiting in the name of food would be stopped. He further said that action would be taken against the unhealthy elements.
