Gen. Bajwa at British Royal Academy

The British Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, has an outstanding standing in the military history of the world. The prestigious institution was in the news recently when it invited Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa as the chief guest at its passing out ceremony. The academy is famous for its uniqueness in that every year cadets from different countries complete professional training and starts their practical life in this institution. Pakistan is among those countries whose cadets are also part of the graduating courses. Also, participation in the passing out parade of this institution is no less than an honour for any military chief, which is meant to acknowledge the country’s expertise in the foreign policy and defence sector. Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa is one of the brave and fearless army chiefs of the country whose defence skills are recognized worldwide and that is the reason he is the only general in the world who has the honour of attending the 213 commissioning course parade at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK as the chief guest. He is the first Pakistani general to attend the parade, inspect the parade and earn the salute by the armed forces of the Royal Military. It should be noted that 41 cadets from 26 countries participated in the recent commissioning course, in which Muhammad Abdullah and Mujtaba of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul were also among the graduate cadets. General Qamar Javed Bajwa represented the Queen of Great Britain in the passing out parade while he reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and friendship, saying that the purpose of the forces in the present era is not to participate in wars but to make wars happen. Deterrence should be kept in mind. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa’s address to the armed forces an honour for Pakistan. He said that it is a matter of honour for Pakistan, and he is certainly right, while it has become clear from the speech of the army chief that Pakistan’s ambitions have never been aggressive, which is not only for peace in the region but also in the world.
