General Bajwa’s statements leak, two officers suspended

Due to the leak of former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s statements two officers have been suspended.

Officers of grade 18 officers including Atif Warraich and Zahoor Ahmed have been placed on administrative leave for 120 days. The suspension of both officers has been announced in writing, according to a media report.

Grade 18 Inland Revenue officials had already been removed from their positions.

There have been significant revelations over the tax records of the family of general (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa that were leaked by a journalist.

The scope of the investigation into the leaks of the former army chief’s family’s tax returns has been expanded.

It has also been decided to include three more income tax officials in the investigation. The officers of the income tax department include the chief commissioner, commissioner and additional commissioner who would all be asked further questions. The report has also claimed that these officers would also likely be removed from their posts for investigation.
