Nadia Afgan, popularly known as the Shahana of ‘Suno Chanda’ may not have graced the small screen this Ramazan, but is certainly following what’s happening in the genre of television drama, which produces numerous romantic comedies as soon as this special month sets in.
One of the many running rom-coms for this year is ‘Hum Tum’, written by the same writer who wrote ‘Suno Chanda’ and carrying an ensemble cast with the likes of Ahad Raza Mir, Ramsha Khan, Sarah Khan, Mohammed Ahmed, Junaid Khan and Arjumand Rahim. Garnering a lot of appreciation for its attempt at breaking multiple stereotypes and inverting gender roles, ‘Hum Tum’, it seems, is on the watch-list of celebrities as well as the public.
Nadia Afgan took to her Instagram on April 12 to post the following status regarding ‘Hum Tum’:
“I’m loving ‘Hum Tum’, every moment of it. I usually don’t watch dramas but this is giving me ‘Ankahi’ feels. Saima Akram Chaudhry, you have written a beautiful script, and kudos to the cast and director Danish Nawaz. What a fabulous drama.”
By saying this, Nadia Afgan also seems to have creatively shifted the public’s focus from her character of Shahana, which people still haven’t been able to get over with, in order to encourage the public to watch what the Pakistani drama industry currently has to offer. With the advent of this year’s rom-coms, a lot of people took to their Instagram accounts to say that they miss Nadia Afgan and are not happy with how a lot of actors try to imitate Nadia Afgan’s Punjabi, something which comes naturally to her.
