Amidst the rapidly developing situation in Ukraine with Russia waging a full blown invasion of the country, a bone numbing video has surfaced of an incident in which a Russian warship annihilated 13 Ukrainian soldiers who refused to surrender.

According to Yahoo News, a Ukrainian solder live streamed an attack on Snake Island in the Black Sea, in which loud sounds of machinery reverberate through and the soldier falls to the ground within five seconds.

According to an unverified audio clip posted by Ukrainian interior minister’s adviser Anton Gerashchenko, the garrison of 13 Ukrainian soldiers was told by the Russian military that they were approaching with a Russian warship, and it would benefit the guarding soldiers to surrender. The Russian military apparently warned the soldiers to lay down their weapons “to avoid bloodshed”, otherwise they would be “bombed”.

A Ukrainian soldier cursed at the Russian warship in a final show of resistance, which has since been lauded by Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy as a heroic act. Speaking about the contingent, President Zelenskyy said that the soldiers stood their ground, for which they would posthumously be conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine.

The island attacked is also known as Zmiinyi Island and lies about 30 miles off the Ukrainian coast, marking the edge of the country’s territorial waters.
