Google urges Chrome users to update browser after security flaw

Google has fixed a serious security vulnerability in its popular Chrome web browser. In a security advisory, Google urged users to update their Chrome browser immediately. The company said that the latest update fixes dozens of security flaws including a highly critical vulnerability that could allow hackers to steal user data.

Google has classified the vulnerability as highly severe and assigned it the identifier CVE-2026-11645. According to the advisory, hackers could exploit this flaw to steal emails, documents, session cookies and other sensitive information.

Google also stated that it is aware of attempts by hackers to exploit the vulnerability and is addressing the issue through the new update. The company did not provide further technical details but confirmed that the update has already been released for desktop computers.

How to update Chrome?

Google Chrome usually updates automatically. If you are unsure whether your browser has been updated:

1. Click the three-dot menu in Chrome.
2. Open Settings.
3. Click About Chrome located near the bottom of the left-hand menu.
4. Chrome will check whether your browser is up to date.
5. If an update is available, Chrome will begin downloading and installing it automatically.
6. Once the update is complete, click Relaunch to restart the browser and apply the update.

After relaunching, your Chrome browser will be updated and protected against the newly discovered security vulnerability.
