In a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided that a meeting of the heads of parties in the ruling coalition will be convened after Eidul Fitr to carry forward the consultation process initiated with all political parties inside and outside parliament.
A high-level consultative meeting of the ruling coalition parties was held at the Prime Minister’s House where the situation in the country was reviewed in detail, future strategies on constitutional and legal issues were discussed.
The meeting, after consulting on the previous position of holding general elections on a single day under the control governments according to the constitution, was said that the process of pre-consultation and negotiation between the coalition parties regarding the conduct of elections is going on, for which the Prime Minister has already formed a committee.
“As politicians, we have never closed the door to dialogue with anyone and cannot do anything undemocratic,” the participants said.
“At every stage of the awareness of the economic agreement, the coalition government has expressed its willingness to negotiate meaningfully, seriously and within the constitutional framework,” he said.
Earlier, chairing a meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the officials to ensure minimum load shedding during summer and said that the pace of work should be expedited for the restoration of Neelum-Jhelum project.
The meeting was apprised about the expected demand and generation of electricity during the current summer, adding that the Neelum-Jhelum power project would be fully restored and cheap and clean power supply would start from July this year.
