Government will provide 20,000 scholarships to jobless graduates, says Ahsan Iqbal

The federal minister for planning & development and special initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has announced the decision of the government to provide 20,000 scholarships to jobless graduates of the nation.

He announced the decision while speaking at an international meeting on higher education and workforce development in Islamabad. He said that the federal government was dedicated to giving the impoverished class access to education.

In addition, scholarships would be given to students from remote regions of the country as part of the Youth Development Initiatives (YDI), a programme that was recently introduced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to Ahsan Iqbal.

The US ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Keith Grover and other dignitaries were present at the summit. For the academic year 2023–2024 the HEC has already offered fully financed scholarships for study abroad in China.

The deadline to apply for scholarships at Chinese institutions is December 15, 2022, according to HEC.

Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistani students have been invited to apply to study and do research in a variety of subjects at the top institutions in China.
