Governor Punjab writes letter for province’s elections

Letters written to ECP, Speaker Punjab Assembly and Usman Buzdar, election timeframe not mentioned

The Governor Punjab Baleegh-ur-Rehman has sent a letter on the province’s elections to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the speaker of the Punjab Assembly and Usman Buzdar, a former PTI legislative representative.

The Governor Punjab stated in his letter that the country’s present economic and security conditions should be taken into consideration but he did not provide a timeframe for the election.

In light of the current scenario the Governor of Punjab stated that the Election Commission should contact all relevant parties before deciding on the election date.

In addition, the letter made reference to the constitutional clause that requires the Governor to provide notice before dissolving the Assembly, according to Clause 3 of Article 105.
